Tag says P. oleracea but it is NOT!

Skimmed the images in database but 17 pages later and no match.

Tag as Common Purslane (Portulaca oleracea) is NOT correct.
I think Lin's link is more likely.

For decades, this plant was sold with labels that say P. oleracea, and it sounds like it's still happening. The story is fascinating, and available in this blog:

Thanks for the acorns! I've asked for anyone who can dispute that article several times over the years in various venues and have not had any feedback in that direction.

That's funny: I purchased seed for this plant under the name P. oleracea ('Toucan Scarlet Shades') from a reputable seed house, which is why I commented as I did. Sorry for the confusion!

It's not your confusion, the confusion is @ the grower &/or retailer, and plants are still being sold with those tags. Did you read the article?

Thanks for the link Tiffany! That was a very through and detailed blog, I feel a little bit smarter;).

Now... Is there any way to find out the cultivar of the plant I have?

I would ask the Costa Farms people about it. (Looking again @ your tag.) Justin Hancock, their public liaison person, is easy to contact on Facebook. The other option would be to find reliably labeled pics & compare.

And P. umbraticola is not an annual, but would not be hardy in most of the US. Not difficult to save inside over winter.
