Just curious if this plant can't handle excessive sun light? My wife left t outside for few hours. Here's before and after. ![]() ![]() |

That looks like a variety of Begonia (Begonia rex) and they are shade plants. ~ I'm an old gal who still loves playing in the dirt! ~ Playing in the dirt is my therapy ... and I'm in therapy a lot! |

Sure, blame it on the wife. Gene |

Hahaha, gasrocks! Very funny! I have a Begonia 'Sophie Cecile', that does quite well, "tolerating " a lot of sun. But I will admit that I "gradually " moved it to the "full sun" spot. I have found that a lot of the varieties can "handle" sun, if done gradually. |

I agree with Tara, it is the sudden change in light that is most detrimental. Imagine what happens to your Minneapolis skin if you go to a Florida beach in mid-January without any protection! So sorry that happened. I can relate, I accidentally burn plants occasionally also. The damage should be temporary. The burned existing leaves can not heal but new ones should be fine. 👀😁😂 - SMILE! -☺😎☻☮👌✌∞☯🐣🐦🐔🐝🍯🐾 The less I interfere, the more balance mother nature provides. 👒🎄👣🏡🍃🍂🌾🌿🍁❦❧ 🍃🍁🍂🌾🌻🌸🌼🌹🌽❀☀🌺 ☕👓 The only way to succeed is to try. |

I am anxious to move tropical plants outside for the summer. One place they reside is under 2 large maple trees. One year I learned not to move them out until the tree has a lot of leaves or too much light filters through and burns the plants. It has been a cold Spring so far. Maples are behind schedule. I will have to be patient. Gene |

I've learned that same lesson, Gene. In the spring, I find myself wondering where the shadows have gone that were there the previous summer, difficult to start re-acclimating plants w/o sunburn. 👀😁😂 - SMILE! -☺😎☻☮👌✌∞☯🐣🐦🐔🐝🍯🐾 The less I interfere, the more balance mother nature provides. 👒🎄👣🏡🍃🍂🌾🌿🍁❦❧ 🍃🍁🍂🌾🌻🌸🌼🌹🌽❀☀🌺 ☕👓 The only way to succeed is to try. |

I agree, using the tree leaves, has saved my plants from burning, also works out with avoiding frost. i'm pretty OK today, how are you? ;^) |
