I got this plant a couple of weeks ago. I had it in a darker area of a room, which it doesn't seem to like. Can anyone help me identify it so I can care for it properly? It's about a foot tall.

It looks like Yucca elephantipes / gigantea to me:
Spineless Yucca (Yucca gigantea)

If so, you're doing the right thing moving it into more light. Not a plant that can thrive w/o a very bright spot, preferably some direct sun.
