the first one is kinda sticky to touch.
It was at the side of a road
could it be Galium aparine

If it was sticky, it is a weed that I have in my garden as well. Galium aparine sounds right.

Commonly known as bedstraw. Ugh. It's a hateful weed. IMHO.

Keep up the good fight. I've eliminated mine from several places where it had taken up residence. Got to get it before it's able to drop seed. Eventually you'll win.
