Ninebark does resemble V. dentatum in some photos.

Always look at leaf arrangement after enjoying flowers...especially on these two wonderful shrub genera. This is Eastern Ninebark (Physocarpus opulifolius).

Viburnum sp. will always be opposite; Physocarpus sp. is always alternate.

@vitrsna - I moved here and there were some very nice bushes established, though I didn't know what they were (until now!). I found a "woody natives" nursery when I first moved in and bought 5 or 8 small, young bushes at the time, but didn't know where to plant them. I "heeled them in" in a small area and then got out of gardening for a long while. They are no longer small! And in a clump, though that's where they'll stay... Way too big to move, and they flower and feed as they are. Warning to all: don't do as I did! Sighing!
