Was very pleased with the order overall, including the multiples that Mike is known for sending in his orders. I received two nice rhizomes of Elderberry Pie (M. Sutton '16) for which I was thankful, instead of the just one that I ordered.
I always plant doubles and triples of the same variety next to each other in the row, so I dutifully planted the 2 Elderberry Pies right next to my Pumpkin Pie a la Mode ( T. Johnson '14) and very near my Strawberry Frosting (M. Sutton '10). Strawberry Frosting is also next to my Huckleberry Sundae (T. Johnson '14) - not blooming just yet.
Imagine my surprise with I went out into the field one morning and saw a magnificent specimen of Huckleberry Pie (M. Sutton '16) right next to my Elderberry Pie clump. Tons of increase on it too. PLENTY for trading, (hint, hint) So instead of two Elderberry Pie clumps I now have one each of Elderberry and Huckleberry -- Pies
Im surprised -- in a pleasant way.
