I'm pondering creating something like this:

Thumb of 2018-05-14/Jai_Ganesha/a1569a

From here: https://debraleebaldwin.com/ca...

But I went to Lowe's and Home Depot and couldn't find the metal rods. Any idea what they are technically called?

I'm a bit stupid/aloof so I don't always know what something is even when I'm looking at it so I need very simple, direct, guidance. lol

Those are a type of small construction beams, used for fences and other utilities. Dont think they are mass produced, but you could improvise with a similar metal pipe or beam or rod, as long its chemically and mechanically durable. Think this is a makeshift structure, and a very practical one at that.

The poles made for chain link fence might be usable.

Chain linked fence is a good idea. I hadn't thought of that. Thank you.

Happy to share. We bought a used CL fence & had some pieces left-over when we finished fencing the part of our yard that we wanted to be fenced-in. The various parts have been handy for various other uses!

As an alternative you could use PVC pipe... if you get thick snow blankets in winter it might be less practical, but if not PVC is a lot easier to handle (ie. cut to size than the metal rods).
It is what it is!

Nope, it needs to be metal rods.
