Hi! I have 2 bushes I want to kill but cannot remove them. Want to place patio stones in area. How do I kill them without damaging other areas? Thank you

Shakristi, if physically it's not possible for you to cut them down to a manageable level and dig them out with a regular garden spade, maybe you could have someone use a chain saw to take them down as close to ground level as possible and then cover the area with a tarp so that no sun penetrates the ground, which hopefully will kill the roots.

You really need to find out what specifically you are dealing with.

If you leave the dead underground parts under your patio, they will eventually rot and cause your stones to sink unevenly.
