I live in CT. Technically I am zone 5B, but very close to zone 6.

So I have been looking at this little developing scape on my Earlybird Cardinal. Wasn't convinced it was true, maybe a dud left over from last year but today it is looking a bit taller and it is developing.

Then there are my Stellas or maybe they are Happy Returns, not sure anymore, but anyways, none of them bloomed last year! They were all on strike! Today between my two gardens where I must have 15 healthy clumbs, I found 5 scapes!!! Lovey dubby Lovey dubby

Then for the real surprise. I was out spraying, praying that I don't get any thrips, because I may have had them on a few plants last year, and low and behold I look down and I have a very healthy scape on my "Lava Flow!" Wow!! That is really early!!!

Actually, Lava Flow is doing this in honor of Madame Pele over there on the Big Island!! *Blush* *Blush*

So definitely off to an early start here in my corner of CT. And really this is surprising because it has been a rather dismally cold spring!

Congratulations! Here in Ohio, on the edge of 5b/6a, I still don't have scapes on my long-term plants yet. However, some kind sellers have left scapes on plants that recently arrived from southern states, so I'll soon have Depends On The Whether, When Royals Dream, Wild And Wonderful, and Yellow Angel Wings. A few others had scapes but appear to have aborted their buds, so hopefully they'll rebloom.
After such a long, unusually cold winter, I'm looking forward to blooms even more than usual.

It's always a great day when the first scapes appear and even better when the first flowers pop open. Good luck on your new daylily season.

Wow, I have scapes on about 5 plants now, but sounds like you and I will have blooms about the same time. We had cooler than normal weather, but the last week or so it has been warmer and things are really busting out.

Finally! I found my first scape today! It's on Butterscotch Ruffles which is typically my first bloomer. Last year Prickly Sensation beat it but I haven't found any scapes on it yet.

It's been raining all week & it's supposed to keep raining into the weekend so I'm not checking my seedlings. Just the known early bloomers.

I was planting some new bareroot daylilies last friday. There was one scape that had been cut off and one new scape on "Winters Crown". The very next day, I saw a scape on "Memphis" and one on "Apache Beacon". Both of these plants were new here last year.

I live in zone 5B. Let the fun begin!
I are sooooo smart!

There are scapes here in zone 4 too but only on a few species-types. Flowers are open this morning on Hemerocallis minor.

It took awhile but more scapes are popping up. Have scapes now on Nacogdoches Bing Cherry and Prickly Sensation.

After the heat and humidity it is finally raining today. I suspect I'll start seeing more scapes soon. The plants are scaping earlier than last year but there are fewer scapes.

I have a few scapes here too, looking forward to flowers but luckily lots of columbines flowering to keep me happy in the meantime as it will be a while before first daylilies flower, usually around the 21st/ 22nd June when they start flowering here (our longest day).

Have, surprisingly, lotsa scapes on the brand new additions! Road Warrior, Pixie Dragon, my new Helicopters and Accentuate The Green (though none on the established ones), Creative Design, Starlight Splash, Web Crawler, Adena Inferno, Nutmeg Elf, Copperhead, and a few really tall gift plants in the former Bermuda Triangle, on the top of the Hill. Scapes on last years additions include Galaxy Explosion and Itsy Bitsy Spider. I'm so Psyched! Edited to add Heavenly Final Destiny.

I found a couple of scapes on some noids that were given to me late last fall. I think that they are the "old lemon lily" species but don't know yet. Also found some on Happy Returns and Stella. Also found that I have a couple suffering from spring sickness, one is really funky looking but the others have already recovered. Its the first time I have ever seen that here. Plants are growing like crazy here with the arrival of some warm weather and all the rain.

Stella has been blooming for a few days now. I'm just so used to that pretty face it doesn't even register any more. Shame on me. These were tiny little single fans set into the niches of a nearly vertical stone outcropping. Have been there at least 8 years. Amazing daylily.

I have a scape on Huckleberry Candy, but it is way too early. This was just purchased, so it must be on its previous schedule! My daylilies usually bloom in July.

I have scapes on about a dozen or more plants now and this is the time of year when they start bursting out all over. DH thinks I'm seriously deranged as I'm out frisking my plants looking for scapes.

Who, oh who is going to bloom first? Right now it is looking like it might be Sultry Girls. Can't wait!

In the past two days a bunch of new scapes have appeared, getting me really psyched. On the whole, though, things are pretty much falling into place for me. Clementella is in full bloom and there are lots of scapes and buds on Suzie Wong and Happy Returns. I saw buds for the first time today on Custard Candy and Miss Tinkerbell and a few days ago on Small World Sunshine. The big surprise, though, has been Stella D'Oro. It had been in a container and the potting mix had really settled so I decided to replant it. When I got it out of the container I saw that it needed divided (after only two years in that container!). I ended up with ten plants total, of which I gave away six. I figured no blooms this year but - wrong! There are at least three scapes up now.

Edit: What I SHOULD have said was that while I was playing fetch with the dog yesterday (which gives me an excuse to prowl around the yard seeking out scapes) I thought "WOW, scapes are popping up everywhere!" While I was writing this last night I was consulting some spread sheets that I made the past two years that track what blooms when and realized that Paper Butterfly should have scapes by now, so I trekked out to the back of the yard and, sure enough, I have scapes on Paper Butterfly as well.

Lava Flow now has 3 scapes and will bloom within the week.

Yesterday I found 3 scapes on Star Spangled and 1 on a NOID and another on Black Eyed Stella.
