It's been in an 8-inch pot for 35 years. Grown from a cutting. Top growth is pruned regularly. Roots have never been pruned. The soil has never been replaced or replenished. It is fertilized occasionally. It stays on a north windowsill. I particularly like the lower stem structure.

That is a beautiful plant Will! Lovey dubby I just killed mine (over/under watering and not enough light). D'Oh! The leaves all fell off and the bark on the trunk is squishing off. The trunk is soft all over. Sad I will try again soon. Smiling

Will, great growing, that's really a beauty! Lovey dubby

I hope you will consider uploading that photo to our database: Ming Aralia (Polyscias fruticosa) and also adding your comments ... which will be of great benefit to others!

I've had a couple of Ming Aralia's over the years, one (photos at that database link) was a tall, ugly shaped plant that I purchased with plans to prune to a better shape and form and I was going to root cuttings ... but it never happened; it was outside and died one winter when I was out of town for a few weeks.

These are two other Balfour Aralias that I care for. The first one I posted is my personal plant. Polyscais are among my favorite plants
