Yes, it appears to be Sweetgum (Liquidambar styraciflua)

The second picture looks like a Sycamore, as does the bark of the first whose leaves are harder to distinguish.

*Blush* D'Oh! It is Platanus species! I don't think American Sycamore (Platanus occidentalis) grows out west so I'm thinking that it's probably California Sycamore (Platanus racemosa)

If it was UK I would say Platanus x acerifolia.
