This one is pretty prolific on my property. It was already here when I moved here almost 32 yrs. ago.
Pretty well-behaved. It grows in uncultivated areas and has never popped up in my garden.
I was thinking Penstemon but I doubt it.

No idea. I'm assuming you can start by eliminating annual penstemon. Smiling Whatever it is, remember that you have had it in your yard for 30+ years so its an old one.

One possibility is the native species called Penstemon calycosus.
