Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed.

I wasn't sure it would make it through this past winter! Very happy to see it made it.

My husband loves Lewisia and he isn't much on gardening. I have four just for him. Not sure if they have already bloomed or will bloom again. When purchased from a nursery you never know quite what stage they are in.

I have some Lewisia that have overwintered for several years, they are are in a bed of sharp drainage (2 parts coarse sand, 2 parts pea gravel, 1 part compost) and sempervivums. The only thing I do for the winter is place plastic netting over the bed to keep the squirrels and chipmunk out. I put a small layer of oak leaves over the bed vs ground up leaves to keep the retention of moisture down.
