I recently bought an orchid that I believe was mislabeled. It was identified as 'e. cordigera hybrid', yet the leaves look nothing like the cordigera family. It seems closer to a Vanda orchid but I'm unsure. It has what I think are roots coming out at various parts of the plant (see photos). I'd love to know for sure so I can properly care for it and improve my chances of a great bloom. Can anyone provide some insight? Please see photos below...

Thanks,
Bob

Hi Dirty Folks,
Welcome to the Orchid Forum, I'm no expert ( they'll chime in later , I'm sure) but my guess is Mokara or Renanthera. It's definately NOT an E. cordigera hybrid. Where did you get it from?

Thanks Lindsey! I picked it up from a Bradford Greenhouse in Springwater, just outside of Barrie, Ontario Canada.

I think you're correct about Renanthera. I just perused the web and the plant leaf form, upright nature of the stalk, as well as the cascading roots from various positions on the plant seem to match up well with my sample.

I'm very excited to find out what the blooms will look like! I just got into orchid gardening so I'm very new at this. I actually bought 3 plants on a whim...none of which were in bloom so I'm waiting to see what they look like.

One of which surprised me with this beautiful creature!

Congratulations on your new Psychopsis Alba. That will be in bloom forever... the next bud is already forming behind that flower. Be sure to check our monthly thread of what's in bloom and post your photos to the group there.
Welcome to our little slice of paradise! Group hug
Ps. If you let the folks at the greenhouse know about the tag /plant mixup they may be able to accurately identify it for you or get you the actual plant you were hoping for.
