Hi,

My Chicago hardy tree is in a container, and it has developed white spots. I used a lobster compost soil when i planted it.

That appears to be a very heavy, dense potting mix that may be all organic but lacks adequate porosity. A standard potting mix would probably be a better choice.

Be careful to allow the soil to get quite dry before watering. When you do water, add just enough so that the soil dries out appropriately within about a week. I am not sure how the unusual composition of the soil you used may affect your Fig.
