I don't see a scape on the crinum yet, but the rain did wake up some rain lilies that hadn't bloomed yet this year. This is Zephyranthes 'Cookie Cutter'. It's a very pretty white with just a little pink. It really stands out from a distance. They're in a tub because I'm moving them, but not sure where they're going yet!

Two milk and wine (herbertii) and 1 Bradley crinum from Southern Bulb Company. I paid about $35 total after shipping. These were the "small" bulbs and they are pretty large!

My Philippine Lilies are blooming. This is a rare dwarf variety that I got from The Southern Bulb Company many years ago. I don't think they sell them anymore. These make seeds and the plants that result are dwarf also. They get between 3 and 5 feet in my garden. Regular ones are between 6 and 8 feet tall in ideal conditions. Of course growing conditions can make a difference.

They are beautiful. Lovey dubby I really love the second photo. Are they mixed with Crocosmia?

Yes, that is Crocosmia planted in front of the lilies. I've found that in my garden, I have a difficult time keeping it under control. It multiples like crazy! It works best if I thin it and leave space between each plant. The lilies do have a faint 'lily' fragrance.

How easy is it to thin crocosmia? I planted at least 50 little bulbs of lucifer but have only had 3-4 actually bloom. Should I let it establish a bit longer or trash it? The stuff looks great when it blooms but I'm not going to let it take over for a few measly blooms.

I found it easy to thin, just pulled up about two thirds of it. If I don't get more blooms I am pulling up the rest of it.

Yes, the little bulbs are easy to pull out. I've found that when they are too thick, they don't bloom as well. That may just be my garden though, so you will need to experiment too see what works for you. I also think they need a lot of sun.

Beautiful bloomers! I have to ask for pointers on how to make the Gloriosa lily bloom. Mine has filled the pot and it is on the second year of no blooms. Any tips please I'm all ears! ?

I went to move the winter bloomers to the greenhouse for their summer bake and found this Ornithogalum dubium in bloom behind a load of other large pots...............

Ok, I will share my secret since my wife is going to kill me if I buy any more bulbs. I have found some GREAT deals on ebay in the last few weeks from folks thinning out their amaryllis and crinum. I put 24 hippeastrum johnsonii/St Joseph's lily in the ground last night and have a box of ten large ellen bosanquet crinum bulbs waiting to be planted. That's in addition to a handful of other bulbs I've wanted and found for good prices. All from home gardeners with one exception. I think I will probably be the one selling on eBay in a few year's time if half of these survive! Hilarious!

The Ginger plants smell delightful when they are blooming, one of the few blooms in the garden that I can even smell.

All of these Ellen Bosanquets for $50. Just got all of them in the ground except for a few pups that I'm going to plant at my parent's house.
