Hi all,

The tops of a few of my lilies look like something's wrong. Some look okay, but a few look like this one--it's just the top, new leaves.

We've had rain followed by hot sun that's hot enough to wilt almost all my plants. They do perk up in the evening or if I give them a small drink of cool water. Could this be the result of the sun burning the leaves due to magnification through water? Or is the soil deficient in something they need to stay green?

I'm in zone 5b.

Thanks in advance.

No, sun burning leaves due to magnification through water is just a myth. Smiling A very popular and wide spread one, but still a myth. See this: https://s3.wp.wsu.edu/uploads/...

What you have is leaf scorch, it's a physiological damage that can happen in the weather you are describing and it is not dangerous on its own, but it can can lead to Botrytis later on if conditions are favorable.

Thanks so much @William, I'll read though and also learn about Botrytis. Much appreciated!
