Hello Iris growers, hybridizer, and all whom love these beautiful cultivars.
I grew up seeing these beauties growing in my families gardens, but I've never tried my hand at growing Iris. I recently decided to change that and see how they do here in NW Florida.

For starters, I won 4 cultivars on the Lily Auction from spuria. They are,

Tall Bearded Iris (Iris 'Boysenberry Buttercup')

Tall Bearded Iris (Iris 'Montana de Oro')

Tall Bearded Iris (Iris 'Princesse Caroline de Monaco')

Tall Bearded Iris (Iris 'Silverado')

I also have some that are at my Moms house. They were a gift from one of my aunts.

I look forward to getting these here and seeing how well they perform.

Hi Stan. Welcome to the Iris forum. I am not familiar with the others that you mention, however, Silverado is a Schreiner's hybrid. It has a reputation for being very consistent. It has good form and size and produces multiple bloom sockets. Good luck with all of them.

Thanks for the welcome, Jerry.
Silverado is a favorite of mine and I haven't even seen it, other than on this site.

I just hope they perform here in my area. I know Louisiana Iris types do well here. But I wonder about cold hours required for other types.

Welcome! to the iris forum stan. i've often thought of sharing my irises with my DD who lives in the north eastern corner of florida...i don't know how well they would do? i read somewhere, but this was just general florida, that they are more difficult to grow because of the high humidity?? but that has caused the hesitation to send her some.

hope you post here again, to let us know how well they thrive in your area.

good luck! they're a gorgeous addition to gardens.

Welcome! Stan.. Looks like you're off to a good start with some lovely cultivars..

I'm wondering if your NOID may be 'Jesse's Song'? Plicata's are notoriously hard to pin down with an ID, but Jesse's Song was very popular, and reportedly, a tremendous grower.. Anyway, it's a good place to start..

Thanks for the welcomes!

@shizen
Daphne, I will surely post progress and stats.

@Henhouse
Sherry, thanks for the tip on Jessie's Song. I would agree with you on correctly identifying, as many CVs show the same look with very subtle differences. I am just as happy to have this one, even without a name.
