Hi, I have a small rotary hoe which i have not used for some years. Having moved house several times since the manual has disappeared and I can't remember what the mix of oil to fuel is. It is a Shogun brand purchased off Ebay.

Any help much appreciated, Dave

Most two stroke engines take 4 oz.
To be sure, Google the make and model, to get specs. 👍👍

Thanks Plil, tried google but could find nothing. Most of my other gear is 25 to 1 or 50 to 1 and I usually mark it on thr tank but not for the hoe sadly. I also think that it might be something odd like 30 to 1 so really need to see if anyone else has the same make/model.
Thanks anyway, Dave

Could you try a local lawnmower repair place? They sometimes have answers Google doesn't.

50 to 1 mix is 2.6 oz to one gallon.
40 to 1 mix is 3.2 oz to one gallon.
32 to 1 mix is 4 oz to one gallon.
Most modern machines use a 50 to 1. But best to find out for sure. Safer going to a stronger mix if you can not find out. It will smoke to much and dirty the plug, but if you go to little oil it will wreak the engine.

If you know the brand name and model number (should be somewhere on the machine) you can google for the manual. Just include all that in your search and make sure you include the word "manual" (leave off the quotes).

I have searched for so many missing manuals I made a folder on my computer for the links to the manuals. I am posting this for anyone looking for missing manuals.

Have searched high and low for info on the web and have come up with nothing at all but have a feeling it is 32 to 1 as I'm sure I had one machine that used that mix and i can't think what else it could be. Might try a quarter tank at 40 to 1 to see how it goes first though. Crossing Fingers!

It's not advisable to guess; @pardalinum has the correct answer.

Whenever I buy anything used, the first thing I do is type the brand, make, model, serial number into a Google search to download free PDF versions of the user manual and the maintenance and parts manual. Give it a try.

I think it is an older model judging by Youtube. Maybe contact Shogun directly? There must be a tag on it somewhere to tell you the model number??

Another search you can do it go to Ebay and do a "Purchases" search for any info you can get when you bought it. Ebay stores purchases we;ve made for many years back.

Good idea but I can only go back to 2016 which is not far enough to get to the original purchase but thanks for the thought.

G'day Dave, this looks like your unit, though rebadged. If so, all your questions are answered.
