Right now I have info for each iris in a document in table format, but it is getting increasingly cumbersome. I've decided Excel might be a better way to go. I have barely ever used that program (took a couple of one-hour classes a couple decades ago), so I have a couple of questions (I'm the "dummy" they write the books for):

1. Should I do my record keeping in a spreadsheet or in a database?
2. Can anyone here send me a template -- or refer me to a good template to use?

Thanks!

I use an excel spreadsheet and it does everything I need except store images. If you wish to build a database, you need to understand database modelling which is more complex than spreadsheets.

May I see a sample of your current record keeping? How many irises do you have?

I am more familiar with databases, at least I have used Filemaker Pro for years, and I love the flexibility of creating numerous forms with the same info, moving fields around, etc. I'm not willing to pay the current price for an upgrade (or monthly fee) that will work with Windows 10, and it does far more than I need. Smiling

I have to run, will get back to this and respond.

Plant Step sounds good. I will try to find it.

Edit: Thanks! I found it, and though their website says the latest version is 2015, their Facebook group says a 2018 update is coming out "any day now" and will include a specific iris section. I'm sold, will buy now, since updates are free.
