A neighbor has a five foot plant growing in a pot on her deck. Don't know what it is. Did bloom this spring (two blooms) but I didn't see them. The leaves look like lilac but small. Can anyone tell by looking at the pic what it is?

They do look like lilac leaves. The plant could be stunted because its in a pot. Did the spent blooms look like lilac? What about the overall shape?

Thanks, Daisy. I didn't see the plant in bloom but it grows upright, like a Lilac. She's going to get it in the ground asap but would like to know what she's planting. Gonna go with lilac.
