I just entered data for Neoregelia 'Pemiento' which is registered by the Bromeliad Society Int'l: http://registry.bsi.org/?genus...

I found another Neoregelia in our database named and I'm wondering if it's a misspelling ... although the description is a bit different. Confused

Lin, you'd probably be the best judge of this. You added both of these plants to the database -- Pemiento on 8/10/16 and Pimiento on 2/15/17. It all depends on your sources for the two.

Rolling on the floor laughing I think I probably got the information for from https://bromeliadparadise.com/... I've purchased a few plants from them the past couple of years. It appears to be the same plant but they've misspelled the name on their website. I usually always check more than one site when I'm searching for plant information; the correct spelling is 'Pemiento' and it seems I've duplicated the misspelling here in our database. D'Oh!

I think it's safe to delete the entry for the misspelled 'Pimiento'.

In my opinion the Pemiento page in the database should note the alternative spelling even though it is incorrect. It is sold very often with that spelling.
I am trying to grasp the description in the database of the white in the leaves.

@ScotTi, here's the link to the Bromeliad Society International Cultivar Registry where you can view the color description for 'Pemiento': http://registry.bsi.org/?genus...

I've added Pimiento as an also-sold-as name. I'm also curious about the "broad white variegation down the center of each leaf." Where did you find the description, Lin?

I have seen that description Lynn there. I personally have not seen the white nor would use it to describe the look of the plant.

They mention nothing of the yellow coloration on older leaves.

I do not consider it white. Maybe a creamy yellow 😁

I've removed the reference to the "white variegation" in the description. The description now simply says "green leaves over-glazed with bright red." If you wish to add something, propose a data edit and I'll approve it.

That is the description I have read on some sites with the addition of "Tiny specks of yellow on the upper part of the leaves."
I have seen a photo by Skotak that shows the white, but do not know the sun conditions it was grown in. I also (Imo) believe that tissue culture that this one is being produced heavily in may have changed the original coloring details.
