Hello! I know nothing about gardening! My husband and I are renting a place with a flower bed in the front yard and it is in rough shape. Just wondering what type of plant is growing and if anything is salvageable? How can I improve the look? Any advice is appreciated!

Hi NatB, Welcome!

I'm not sure at all what you have growing but they remind me a bit of Irises (Iris) LOL, that's just a wild guess.

Another photo for comparison here:

I'm sure others will be along shortly with suggestions and probably an exact ID.

I think its a garden bed run amok by Bearded Iris. They needed to be lifted, sorted and replanted. Wait until July, they should be getting ready to bloom.

I also see Bergenia, bottom right and a Lamium on the lower left. They both have many cultivars. I agree with Daisy that your Iris will bloom soon but need some serious thinning out after that. Love the purple color at the base of the fans.
