Is there anything that will grow under my huge and trimmed up about 8ft. high beside a scattered weed or two within the 20ft. circumstance.

Maybe some container plants? Then you don't have to worry about all the roots when you're digging. What do you like? Is the area completely shaded?

Welcome!! Welcome! Welcome!

It's shaded completely. It is a large area.

You could go to your local garden center or big box store like Orchards and tell them you are interested in getting some shade loving plants. That way they they could show you a variety that you could choose from and plants that will grow well in your area. Just my opinion 😀

I do underplanting under evergreen trees and it is a difficult task. In particular, any evergreens that have shallow roots, create acidic soil and cast deep shade. Unfortunately, I would just recommend bark mulch around the base a blue spruce and maybe some hostas at the very edges of the tree's lower branches. Even then I'd be careful to water the entire surrounding area when watering plants near large tree roots as they will be searching for the water. Even fertilizer I cast large. Good luck!
