I found this ladybug-like creature on an asclepias incarnata.
It's a bit larger than the common ladybugs I usually see, but still smaller than my pinky fingernail.
Beautiful markings.
Can anyone tell me its name?

DEAD RINGER! And perfectly reasonable, since I found the "Swamp Milkweed Leaf Beetle" ON the leaf of a swamp milkweed! Hilarious!

These milkweeds are volunteers and I know not where they came from! They showed up during my garden maintenance failure years..... I got sick and just didn't have it in me. But I would NOT have recognized these plants had they not gotten old enough to bloom. seedlings would have been pulled.

It's a gift from the universe!
