I think it's a time when you can see first signs that this might be an easy grower or a stubborn one. It's a big disappointment when a real beauty comes along and you have give it extra care just to keep it going. Fingers crossed!!! Crossing Fingers!

Thanks for the encouragement (and acorns Angry Smiling that was extremely kind of you). When I think of how many I lost along the way, it's just a nice moment when you see a good one. I have a few "good ones" and the longer I am doing this, they are easier to recognize. Many are average, some are just plain drab and dull.

This one I have already pulled the pollen on it...

Crossing Fingers! for more years of evaluation. The parents are pretty much perfect.

Not a breeder, just a looker but you all have some neat, innovative stuff.
I think I was taken, most of all by TN45.

Seedlings from Pard's original croses from back in 2006, still going strong:

The little brown one won't be blooming for a week yet.

I'm very happy to see this one reappear. I thought I had lost it in a mad shuffling one fall when I redid my hybrid beds - the original bulb got mixed up with my reject hybrid bulbs. (I guess it wasn't complete loss, 'cause I ate it. Big Grin ) So this "survivor" is from a bulblet that by pure happenstance got planted again. The second pic of it was back in 2014 - my first lily show entry ever, and at the national show here in Minneapolis. I had really lamented the "loss" since it has a few interesting characteristics I like very much.

Couple new seedlings bloomed today. First four pictures are from and reverse of 2 seedlings from the Ault cross of 'Lazy Lady' x 'Leichtlini'. Lost picture is Lankongense grown from seed.

Rick, of the three bulbs you gave back to me one produced a short stem with one bud. I'm looking forward to all three maturing in another year or two.

As for rediscovering a lily you thought was long gone, I think most of us experience this at one time or another. For me, this year Opulent miraculously reappeared after taking a little vacation. And when a favorite pops up in a new place, I have so many lilies now I just can't seem to keep track of them all! I do tend to get absent minded when I tell myself to mark when I move a bulb and the thought flits away when I see something else that needs to be done. Getting old, I guess Whistling .

Pard, I call it gardening ADHD. A million things going on in my head, that I actually believe I will remember them all.

Very representative of the parents, those seedlings. Dave. Nice job growing them out.

A really nice second year griesbach seedling from the big dig. A soft but non fading yellow that's flat and the flower form is outstanding. I think I will select it out to be pampered and see what it can really do!

The form on that is quite exquisite, Joe. I hope it proves to display a good inflorescence structure - can't tell yet.... Crossing Fingers!

Tracey love that Sonnentiger cross.

Newest seedling for me. Just started opening up. Waiting to see what it will look like later today when fully opened.

Tracey, the first picture is a few days in. A tiny bit faded. The second one is a new one that of course the bugs are a bit so it didn't open great but you can see some faint penciling and papillae but a little stronger yellow color.
