Arlene ~ There has been a big discussion here about identifying irises by pictures alone.

I could tell you what it MIGHT be, but that would not be a positive identification. Let's see what others have to say about it.

Thanks, Evelyn. It bloomed early (for Long Island) on 5/20, if that helps.

Could it be Rock Star? I bought that years ago but to my eyes it never matched the NGA entry for it.

Look in the database. How tall was it? When did it start and stop blooming? If you think that this is close, you need to get another one from a reputable iris vendor and grow them side by side. Then after waiting for the new one to bloom, compare them thoroughly including beards. Take the flowers apart as well. Others can give you more details. But the main thing is not to:
1. Put in in the database
2. Trade it as Epicenter

I understand the value of an untainted database so I will not enter it or trade it as Epicenter. I did buy it as Rock Star and do see many photos like my own. It began to bloom 5/20 but unless I find another photo, I can't be sure when it finished and haven't taken the height of it. At 76 I will not be ordering another just to compare - time gets short at this point.

Thanks for your help, Evelyn.

No intentions of trading again. The last two people never paid and the trade was not for TBI's. Some folks are generous to a fault while others couldn't care less. I've traded on DG and NGA since 2005 and still run over $100. behind from those who don't or won't pay. All I asked for was shipping.

Thanks to Robin, Evelyn and Daphne. Some of the reasons for not paying were hysterical. One said she couldn't send a check because her daughter was pregnant. That child must be graduating from grammar school by now!

Another, who specifically asked for books I had, said she saw no reason to pay after so long.

So be it. They have to live with themselves.

Arlene, sorry to hear about the trading fiasco.

I do not think it is Epicenter as that is a very dark iris compared to yours.

Evelyn - you posted Inspiration Point, but called it Epicenter? Confused

Rockstar shares many of your pictures' same qualities. But does yours ever grow horns because Rockstar has them. Your beards are less orange as well but that isn't as much of a deal as the horns. if there have never been any then it is likely that it is another plicata

Hope all is well with you. I have been terrible at catching up with your going ons.

Something happened, I don't know what. I'll have to look into it.

I wish there was a way to give stars, or some other kind of rating, to good traders on here.

I went ahead and asked about the rating system. You can see the results of the question here: The thread "Good trader ratings" in Site Talk forum
