Hi there,

I was given some seeds and the plants are not turning out to be what they should have. Uploading this image of leaves with tiny flowering buds to google brought up it is a Datura of some sort. Definitely not sweet pepper! Is this Datura and if so what kind?

Thanks for your help! I am not sure I was such a poisonous plant in my yard.

Gracie

Could it be a Solanum of some kind?

I think I can see some flowers, do they look like this?

Janine is saying they are some Solanum relative with flowers like the above. Solanum may be a cultivated plant like a pepper, or a weed (often poisonous).

Datura flowers are completely different, like this

I did not realize there were some kind of ball at the end now growing.. not until I photographed and was cropping..lol These plants are taking over...I saved my pepper seeds from last year and grew no plant like these!! Is it a pepper plant then? I started a bunch of bell pepper plants by seed, some specialty pepper and quinoa--gifted seeds... the specialty pepper and quinoa are the same looking plants....have no idea now what I have done! Thank-you for your help!! Smiling Smiling Smiling

Definitely a variety of Solanum (Nightshade), possibly Black Nightshade (Solanum nigrum) or Common Nightshade (Solanum americanum) both of which have toxic qualities.
