'South Seas' a rare double in my garden.

'Chesapeake Bay': A beautiful bloom this morning.

Amazing double on South Seas. What a very rare treat! I have had SS for 5 years now but I had never seen a double. Also love your Chesapeak Bay! So gorgeous!

Mike, love your Frog's Eye. Mine finally puts out blooms this year after 3 years in the ground!

Tim, your Silken Temptress is calling me! What a lovely threesome!

DND, I really like your Ginger Cookie. The lighter color on the sepals really shows off the red of the petals.

Just two today.
Penny's Worth started blooming a few days ago, and I missed posting a picture of her. Here is one of today's blooms with my hand to show just how small she is. She also has tiny, grassy foliage, so very nice for along a pathway.

Thumb of 2018-07-02/touchofsky/56644a

Also blooming today is Huckleberry Candy. I took a look more closely, and this scape is a prebloom scape. There is also another scape coming on this fan that will bloom at its more usual time.

Really strange bloom season this year. A few hems are pumping out blooms like we are a tour garden. Some are sitting with buds on scapes showing no sign of progress day after day. Bud count is way down on most. Some are just weird. DANCING WITH GIRAFFES opened eight blooms today, each bloom tied together at the petal tips. ED MURRAY had a FFO today with one petal. One hem had two buds on its no branching single scape. Confused

Then we have several looking gorgeous, as though Betja or ShakespearsGarden or Hazelcrestmikeb or GaNinFl or Legalily plus a dozen more had been here watering, weeding, feeding, hauling them into kitchen out of the heat and doing all those magical things they do.

This year I am posting photos primarily from that last group with a few outliers so you aren't getting too many from me.

Here goes;

really good performer ... reminds me of some dancers I have worked with in musicals who are maybe 30 or 32 and not quite as lithe as some of the younger dancers but when the curtain goes up they are the ones you watch. Same bed, same category as VATICAN CITY

SIROCCO (1979)
and here is your 45 year old dancer who you put in the back row but still knows all the steps and lyrics and who you just wouldn't trade for anyone. SIROCCO came with the house, planted next to an eight inch pine post in the shade and you cannot beat it down. This is not a great bloom but I love the buds!

California poppy
photo does not capture the violence of the color - I had to put my camera in the refrigerator after I took the shot

Ginny, anytime you feel like taking a drive, my garden is open ... Stilldew lives about 3 miles from me. Not too many daylily growers in the area, so it sure is wonderful to know someone close by Smiling

Charley, you have a way with words and a camera! Hilarious!
The California poppies are so vibrant. I can't seem to grow them here. Used to grow them in AZ though- loved the lacy foliage and the flowers..

Ginny, I'm free until the first week of August. Then it's back to school (so soon!) And well, if you don't have plans this weekend- I am hosting a garden walk both days... Whistling
My gardens aren't nearly as pretty as your or stilldew's. They're a serious work in progress. I have two more beds to build in the "nice" backyard and not much else in the beds except daylilies... Okay, nothing but daylilies Hilarious!
