Beautiful photos Mona. You have quite a variety of plants in bloom. Love Wisteria, especially the purple ones. That one is gorgeous. And your close up shots are fantastic. Crisp, dimensional, just perfect. I just keep going back to look at them. |

The redbud tree that is blooming is a "Forest Pansy Redbud". It has the most beautiful purple leaves on it. When the small leaves start growing they will have tints of green, orange and many colors of purple until it finally turns puple when they mature. The leaves seem to glow with all the colors. I found this for the first time in Memphis, Tn at a very old cemetary. It had some of the most beautiful shrubs, trees and roses that I've seen. Our Master Gardeners took a field trip to see it many years ago when I still belonged to the group. I have no idea how to get new cutting or seeds. Last year it was covered in seed pods, but it didn't have seeds in them. I havent tried cutting because I don't want to lose any growth. If I find out for sure that it will grow from cuttings, I would try it. I spent 2 years looking for one and happened upon it at Home Depot when it had been marked down half price. I was tickled to get it. The group gave me $25 for me to spend in anyway after my father died. I used it to buy this tree. It started out about 4' tall and maybe as wide. It's grown bigger than I thought it would. I'm thankful it's in a place that it can grow all it wants. |

Thanks Shirlee for the comments. I'm using my new Canon Camera that I finally gave up and bought. I just couldn't get used to my daughter's DSLR. It just didn't make the clear bright colors that the Canon does. I usually have the tripod on it but I did these just walking around, looking, and snaping. It was very cloudy this morning and that makes for good photos, too. Thanks BB and Michele. I really love making pictures. I'm kinda demanding of my photos. I want them to be clear and clean, even if it's a photo of the compost pile. I like true colors. I don't change the colors, in fact I have only brightened a few last year when I was trying to use the other camera. I swear, Canon will spoil you rotten with beautiful colors. Thanks everybody. It's been kinda a bad day. I think the time change caught up with me. It's a mental thing, I know. But it sure does make a body feel bad. Your comments helped. I really appreciate everyone on this site. We tend to lift each other up and that's what being a gardener is all about. We help Mother Nature and each other. blessings to all, Mona |

Stephane, I don't know. I got it several years ago but never knew the name. It is always the first to bloom in my garden but this year is really really early. I remember it being an old one. I love the older iris and I bought several about 4 years ago. I love it. It does look like yours. But I just don't know for sure. Blessings, Mona |

Redbuds are very pretty but I have heard that the nectar in the flowers actually kills bees. Anyone else ever hear that?? Lighthouse Gardens |

Love your garden, Mona. I love wisteria also. I don't have very many shrubs except for crepe myrtles. They do really well here in hot dry Texas. Here is what is blooming at my house today. Furioso intermediate iris |
