All I remember about this plant is that someone I traded with years ago included it as a gift.....
Don't remember who, or what the actual trade was.

Sorry it's up against the hosta.
This is the only pic I have of the flowers

It does like like an Amsonia.

Thanks Sue.

This brought another question to the fore.

I'll take a picture of "mystery #2" and post my confusions later.

I believed when I bought the plant in the background that it is Amsonia tabernaemontana.
The foliage on it seems more feathery than the photos in the database though.
Flowers and fall color are the same though.

The plant in front is the one I posted for ID.
Even its foliage is not as wide as the photos in the database with people's hands.

Was there supposed to be a new picture? The plant in your first post's photos looks like the A. tabernaemontana that I have here but there are around 20 species of Amsonia and so it's not necessarily a definitive ID to species (or cultivar) level. If you have one that has more feathery foliage, then does A. hubrichtii, which was mentioned a few days ago in another thread (but I've never actually seen it in person) fit?

I would have said the one in front is A. tabernaemontana and the one behind is A. hubrichtii, but you could look through the other amsonias in the database to see if there are any other possibilities.
