Beautiful flower, looks nice and healthy. Is this its 2nd year?

My hardy hibiscus will be flowering this week as well :)

Thank you! It is in its first year from seed started indoors during the winter. I'm delighted with it and look forward to seeing your flower photos.

I just planted my first hardy hibiscus, Fireball. How long do the bloom? Up to now I've had tropical hibiscus which bloom all summer outside, and then all winter inside the greenhouse.

I'll let you know how long the bloom lasts. As for length of blooming period, maybe a month or 2? It's loaded with buds now.

Each flower generally lasts about a day. But depending on the weather and if its not too hot mine can go a day and a half before fading. Sometimes on a cool cloudy day mine have almost gone 2 days.

My flower opened up today as well, but the edges/coloring of the flower was damaged during a storm last night still beautiful though:

That bloom is so pretty! @Gerris2, when you get seeds, would like to trade for some.

I have some more pictures one of a new one for me this year. I also have Lunas in bloom this is the second round of blooms for the Lunas. Karen with our heat the bloom last only one day. Have a 5 new one in front of house that two have bloomed and three have not but all are loaded with buds just about ready.

Had two in backyard bloom this AM but did not take pictures, to occupied edging and mowing lawn then application of fertilizer and now for the last 3 hours giving it all a good watering. We have rain in forecast but in this area I seldom hold my breath till I see it.

I had only 1 seed germinate out of probably 5 so maybe the germination rate is typically not high.

Thanks, Karen! I am continually amazed by how large the flowers are on a relatively small plant. Definitely a keeper.

I recently got 20 seeds each of 6 different hardy hibiscus from DraDiana that she crossed varieties this year & offered seeds in the NFSR seed swap. I got these that are labeled by the 2 parents for possibly 10 new looks. It's the 1st time she does it so can't promise the outcome but I found them intriguing & will sow them in Feb. for Summer blooms here in zone 9. These are mixes of Cranberry Crush, Airbrush Effect, Starry Starry Night, Tie Dye, Plum Fantasy & Mocha Moon. I don't need them all so I'm offering to 2 people 3 seeds of each or your choice in particular in trade for seeds of other special plants you may have that I'd like to grow. Let me know RIGHT AWAY if you are interested since seeds can be mailed even at this cold time. Let me know the names of the best seeds you'll offer in trade then I'll send you the crossed parents names so you know them in advance or to chose your favorites if you don't have room but to try a few. Thumbs up Trudy
