thanks joshua, i read about your planting seeds right after harvest. but as evelyn said, no space, and i'm too old to be looking to take on more garden work. what little space i do have, is mostly maintained by me. DH. mows, blows, and then goes fishing, or golfing.

he complains i have too much garden already. more stuff, more work he touts. wants me to put back the lawn, no flower beds.....you get the idea?! Sticking tongue out Hilarious! he wants us to be traveling and golfing more, and the 'bite' (fish) is always when there's crucial work to be done in the iris garden, during the spring and summer. nodding Whistling we do some, but not as much as he would like. Hilarious!

Brad/Tom: Thank you for the info and encouragement. I thought it was a whopper but didn't really have enough experience to know for sure. It is viewing the crosses you all have, and a few others out here that peaked my interest in trying a few crosses on my own. Brad, sure hope your seedlings are just late this year!!!
I think the people who grow Irises are about as special as the flower itself!

I just got my seeds planted last week, I'm late again. A couple had roots already, so I should see some sprouts in a few weeks. Now I have to start my tomato plants.

Monty, the rose disease was first, then the daylily disease was second, and the iris virus was third, I still buy an occasional rose and some daylilies, but the iris virus is here to stay. : Hurray!

Richard, if I remember right there was a business call roseiris in or around Sacramento about 20+ years ago. Obviously they sold roses and irises.

It was Roris in Elk Grove. It was a Japanese operation and only grow irises there. They introduced some of my creations including Rogue and Romantic Evening. Eventually all their farms were annexed to the City of Elk Grove and sold for development and they made a ton of money from the sale. They ceased their US operations.

I only went there once, but I do remember other plants there. Maybe I was dreaming about the roses. Hilarious!
