Haven't taken a lot lately. Been sooo hot and with the smoke from the fires, I hate going out there. Today tho, thankfully it's a lot less smoky. These were taken last week. You can see with some of the pics they have a reddish cast from the smoky sky. ALEC'S RED ALFRED SISLEY BROCELIANDE CHERRY FOLIES DR JANE GOODALL - Just got this one from J&P a couple months ago on their $4.95 sale. So far, I'm kinda wondering if it's the wrong rose. This is the pinkest bloom she's had so far. Mostly the blooms are apricot. ![]() DUBLIN GUY SAVOY HEAVEN ON EARTH JAN STEEN JOSHUA BRADLEY PAINTER'S PALETTE RENATA SECRET SIGHT SAVER SISTERS AT HEART SUNNY ABUNDANCE And just for the heck of it... here's a closeup of my Beefsteak tomato plant. It's actually a big monster. Growing up and out of the tomato cage and sprawling over the fence onto some of my potted roses! Never had this much luck with beefsteak-type tomatoes before, altho I did have a yellow Brandywine last yr that grew about the same size, but only produced 4 tomatoes!! This one's got quite a few on it. Haven't counted them yet. And they really are getting huge. ![]() |

I am admiring the unusual variety of petal shapes among this parade. Also I like Dr Jane Goodall whoever she really is. Porkpal |

I just signed up! Great roses Beth! |
Welcome to NGA, jim1961. Beth, some stunning roses! I think that definitely is Dr. Jane Goodall, which is described in some materials as peach and salmon-pink with a yellow base. Sounds like a good detailed description of an apricot blend. ![]() |

jim1961 said:I just signed up! Great roses Beth! So I see you took my advice Jim! Good to see you here! You'll find it's a lot easier to upload your photos and no invasive crap going on like "over there!" Maybe some of the others will follow you too. And Zuzu, ya think that might be the good doctor after all? That was like my third bloom I think. Here's the previous ones. They were paler and more yellowy and blew really fast. ![]() ![]() And this is the same bloom as the first one above. Not a great pic; lighting wasn't good. But it started out pure apricot and then got that little bit of pink after a day. ![]() |

Gorgeous pictures. Really, really pretty! |
We've all seen that first blooms can be deceptive, but those are definitely peach-colored with a yellow base, and the third picture has those two elements plus the salmon-pink. I love the first photo because of the ruffled petals. The first bloom on my Rainbow Sorbet was solid white. I was horrified because I wanted all of the sherbet colors. Luckily, all of its subsequent blooms were a blend of those colors. |
Post some photos, Jim. In this forum, we love to show off our roses, and we're an appreciative audience when other people want to show off their roses. |

I am amazed how well your photos of the reds came out. I can never get a red rose to photograph accurately. Porkpal |

Beth, I'm thinking of getting Sight Saver...what do you think of this rose as to fragrance, bountiful blooms and beauty? Thanks, Carol |
Beth_NorCal Oct 4, 2018 8:49 AM CST |
Carol, I keep saying every yr I'm going to catalog the fragrances of my roses, but I never seem to get around to it. I guess it's because I rarely find much scent on most of them, plus I don't usually cut the roses and bring them inside. I prefer to enjoy them outside, and some I can barely get to to catch a sniff anyway. That being said, SIGHT SAVER is within nose reach, but I have never really taken a whiff! So, sorry I can't tell you of the scent. It's not a great bloomer. Doesn't repeat that much, at least not for me. And the thrips like it. It's a pretty rose when it does bloom tho. |

Beth...ewwww...I hate ones that thrips love. Thanks for saving me the trouble! ![]() |
