Matilija poppy

Matilija poppies https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...
A friend and co-worker, Shelley Pinney, let me pull out several to try to start my own. 12yrs later they are growing 100 ft in all directions. =O
Drought tolerant, easy to pull out (but I hate to) if necessary. Bees love them, rabbits, snails, etc leave them alone.
Tall, crepe-like pure white with large "yolks".
Very pretty, especially in a light breeze.

Great banner, Cal!
Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed.

Thanks everyone......I just wish you could grow them, too. If anyone wants to try,
please treemail me......I have to pull some out anyway, and hate to throw them away.

I've tried to give them away to several folks here, and they are afraid they will get out
of control. They are worth the risk, and really not hard to keep in check.

It's a special time when the matilijas are blooming. It makes up for not being able to
grow oriental poppies, peonies, and hostas. Green Grin!

Here are some pics I found from 2016.
