Just love your photos, Betty! We both have nearly identical taste in our favorite iris plants. I have quite a few the same ones as you but since they are only one or two years old I'm still waiting to see how they will look. Sure hope they will look as lovely as yours do. |

Stacey, just looking at the iris bed in your avatar I can tell that you're a much better iris grower than I am! And those first five have been in the ground for less than a year, so they seem quite vigorous, Here is a picture of my front iris beds (there are three going up the hill) taken about a week ago, and I think your irises look better. My iris bed in the back yard doesn't have hardly anything in bloom there yet, although four out of those five are in that bed.![]() I'm really noticing that I'm getting some really tall stalks this spring, and I'm wondering if it's because our weather has been fluctuating so much. I used up all my stakes in our last big wind, and some of the new ones are kicking up their heels and keeling over because they're so tall and top heavy with blooms. Amazing! Betty |

Betty, you have my mouth watering! lol. It keeps freezing here during the night, I sure hope that stops soon, as the TB's are sending up their stalks. and it won't be long. Some of my SDB's had their blooms frozen and they never opened. One called Dark Crystal that I wanted to see. Still has some newer buds coming, so if it stops this cold stuff, it might show its face yet. It finally warmed up a bit yesterday (50's) so I was able to dig in the beds a bit. I'm getting behind with this cold and wet weather we've had. Voltaire: "Those who can make you believe absurdities, can make you commit atrocities," |

Oh Tom, I'm so sorry you're losing blooms to -- freezing weather? We were at 98 yesterday and I had a lot of blooms wilt, unfortunately. It's either one extreme or the other lately! And we're supposed to go down to the 70's by tomorrow, and maybe even the 60's. All I know is, I spent a good portion of the last three days either here at the computer, trying to post pictures here and in the ATP and Irises Cubit's databases -- or outside hand watering just about everything. The one that totally impresses me is SPECTACLE -- I believe it was a bonus plant from Joe Ghio, and it seems like it just popped up out of nowhere and is a big, beautiful, elegant flower -- the stalk was tall too. I think this fluctuating weather has produced more than my normal amount of tall stalks this season -- I used all my stakes early on and had to leave some to lean over, and that has never happened before. You know Betty everytime I have gone to order Bold Vision it is late in the season and always forget early on to order because that is something that will be great to use on hybridizing,. Thank you for posting and reminding me to order EARLY D Denise Stewart 541-259-2343 Snowpeak <url>http://snowpeakiris.com</http> |

Me too, Paul! Dee, I'm so sorry to put all this extra work on you to have to take time to approve all these pictures -- and I still have a lot more to post. The iris are really going crazy right now -- was 98 yesterday, and some things wilted, but everything seems to be opening right now! BOLD VISION never disappoints me, even though it's a shorter TB, and I believe it's one of the parents of Keith's SUMMER SHADOW. Betty |

The chilly weather in the Northeast has really slowed down the bloom here at my location in southern PA. We had frost the past two nights with one more to go. At least we got a nice rain the past couple days - It was really dry and my iris are much shorter than normal. |

Betty -- your Irises are gorgeous -- as always. I'm partial to Fiery Figure and LaScala myself. Of course, Spectacle is outstanding!! How I would love to stroll through your Iris garden!! ![]() Thoughts become things -- choose the good ones. (www.tut.com) |
Oh Betty, really enjoying your fantastic blooms!! DECADENCE ![]() ![]() ![]() ENTANGLED~ Ghio sure creates some rich colored blooms! The weather is overcast here so it seems the colors are all deeper.
