Does anyone have a blueprint for a small (box like) greenhouse that can be kept warm (above 50 degrees F) through cold winters? I would like to build one to keep plants in for the winter...

Are you thinking of something on the order of a cold frame?

Are you thinking something freestanding -- or maybe attached to your house, where you could open a window and provide heat that way? What zone are you in? What kind of plants specifically do you want to keep in it (tropicals, salad greens...) ? (I think we need more information to try to help Smiling )

Zone 5 and I am looking for something that could be unattached to the house. This would be for rooting succulents.

Yes, the word is cold frame! I could not find it. Thanks!

There are many online plans for different sizes and shapes. The simplest I've ever seen was bales of straw piled up and topped with a window.

We ordered ours from http://www.bettergreenhouses.com/?gclid=CLzh_Lq-prACFSrDtgod... and have really good luck with it. Seems like they serve all over the US so cold should not be a problem.

Hi drewtoby, You can find great greenhouse and equipment's from ebay for great prices. I have used rough greenhouses and their service is good. http://www.roughbros.com/commercial-greenhouses/services/gre...

I once built a cold frame from old wooden windows. I used hinges and it worked perfectly for rooting cuttings and starting seeds.

I just recently built a cold frame out of scrap lumber and two old windows I picked up beside the road.
