For those members here on the Daylily Forum who live is the areas that are believed to be in Hurricane Florence's path, please stay safe!

Be aware of flash flooding, high winds, downed trees and power lines, and loss of power (so try to stay in shade once the storm passes and the sun comes out). Fill your bathtub up with water too for flushing your toliet and other things.

Hoping the damage is minimal. But above all else, human and animal life is the most important thing, so be very cautious and stay safe!

Well said, Becky. I just want to add my "best wishes" to everyone who is in the path, or who has friends or family in the path.

Wait. I thought of something to add. My stomach gets queasy when I see videos of cars floating down flooded roads and streams... not knowing if there are people or pets stuck in there. Please, please, please don't let your car end up in one of those videos.

Wish for Florence to take a path that produces the least amount of harm and damage. I hope for some system to develop that will push Florence back to sea instead of stalling over land.

Been watching coverage all morning. So glad I live in Indiana! But when I was young there was a bad tornado where I lived a few miles from here. I still carry the trauma of that storm in my heart! The damage when we walked out the next morning! Diana, "Be a hero to your loved ones! Evacuate!", so true!

Reporting in that I'm fine so far here in the foothills. Had wind gusts yesterday and it will get ugly today and tomorrow when the rain and stronger winds arrive here. Expect to lose power for awhile but the storm is weakening so less than 8" of rain is predicted. Our subdivision is full of guests from the coast who evacuated. There has been so much flood damage on the coast from all the rain....thinking of all the gardens that were on tour for the National this last summer. They could be out of power for weeks at the coast as rain continues to filter down through rivers making many places inaccessible. And there is still lots of uncertainty about what comes next.

Daniel is ediblelandscapingsc. He is in Catawba, SC. I am a bit concerned for him and his family. An earlier tree-mail I received from him:

"We are getting ready as best we can, we should be okay unless the dam breaks. I'm about 1/8 of a mile from the river. They are talking a ton of rain for both NC and SC and the Catawba river goes from the NC mountains all the way to Columbia SC where it meets up with other waterways. For the most part the scariest part is going to hit the coast with the 100+mph winds and storm surge. we may get a few trees down but they are saying 45mph gust for us. Since I'm in the boonies if the power goes out it may be a while before it's restored but we have plenty of water, food, charcoal, and other essentials. We are just hoping for the best."

I told him to be very careful due to flooding. I thought that would be the issue and I was right. Wind damage is one thing, but flooding can be really bad. I hope Daniel and his family are ok. My thoughts and prayers are with all residents getting rain and wind and flooding from this storm. Gives me nightmares, or maybe it is PTSD. I will never forget 2004. I have said every year since then, that I hope we never have to go through a storm season like that again for as long as I live. It would shorten my life span to deal with that kind of damage and repairs again. Sad Sad Sad Sad
