Hi, I have stopped in to look at all the beautiful orchids a time or two and found my self coming back to learn more. So today I joined the cubit, makes it easier to find.
I do not have any orchids ,maybe someday , they are intriguingly beautiful.
Thanks for an educational and beautiful place.

Hi and welcome Cinda,
I am very pleased by your comments!! I was so hoping that people without orchids would enjoy the photos, too.
We aim to please. Just keep checking back and you will be amazed at the variety of orchids that folks grow. I know I am always amazed!

Hi Fred: We look forward to summer when we can take the motor home out and explore. Our favorite part of the country to visit is the west. When our kids were growing up DH as a school principal had the month of July off, and we packed up the kids and traveled all over the country, visiting all of the lower 48 states and Alaska plus all of the Canadian provinces except the Northwest Territories. Our travel accommodations weren't so luxurious then, starting out in a tent and then to a pop-up travel trailer. We spent the 70s and 80s sailing on Lake Michigan, and then after retiring bought a motor home (from our son, no less!) and are now on our third one.

Jean, I guess most of us started out with a tent. We then graduated to a couple VW campers and then came a long period of building a business without much time. We have yet to visit Alaska but did the rest in one way or another since I retired. Presently my slides won't come out and I'm looking for where the fuse might be. Part of the game I guess. When we went to Labrador we left the coach in New Foundland and just stayed in a few motels but that was desolate country. You get to the end of the road.

"You get to the end of the road." That's what my DH said when we were at Denali. Nobody had seen the top of this mountain for about a month when we were there, but we went to the end of the road and he has some magnificent photos of "the high one"! (The whole thing in all its splendor).

Ha, I also traveled to friends' homes or with tents for years. I never did a camper cause I skipped to wonderful hotels and cabins in national parks! Money's gone now so I just stay home and grow orchids and every other plant! I still get wanderlust!

I traveled so much when I worked that I'm content to stay home now. I can remember waking up in the night not recalling what country is was in.

I'm with you Jim I agree after 28 years in questionable hotels in sometimes unstable countries...
there's few things nicer than waking up in your own bed, looking out your own window at your
own beautiful garden and maybe having some fresh picked strawberries from that garden to have
for breakfast!

Lindsey -- waking up in your own bed is one reason we like the motor home as you take your bed with you! Kathy: birding is one reason we like being in FL in the winter. There is a wonderful wildlife refuge in Tutusville where we can watch birds, along with alligators. We have owls here that sat up in the tree all afternoon watching DH and me working on a daylily bed. If I can find the pix, I'll post them.

Hi everyone,
My name is Paula, married to a wonderful man, two children, 17 & 14. I also have an obsession with orchids and plants in general. I have around 250, all kinds Phal, paph, onc., dend, milton, catt., vandas, brassias, ascoscendas, phaius, and the jewel orchid. Love them, I keep mine in the GH for the most part. I always have them in the kichen, den, and bedroom. Something is always blooming. Is there a place just to post pictures? I am still getting used to this. It is hard to keep up with all the things going on. I wish it would 'pop' up like on DG if you are active on the forum.

Here is one of my beauties.

Love the owls! We also have Barred Owls among several others. Last month, I could hear them calling in the afternoon while back in the woods. Would love to catch a glimpse of them instead of the Crows and Bluejays.... Maybe this year, we'll have Bluebirds nesting.

Orchid spikes are growing daily but it's still the cymbidiums and a lone den in bloom. Your orchid is lovely, Paula!

Love to see what you have blooming (on the March Orchids thread http://cubits.org/orchids/thre...).

Waiting on some spikes here, too, Lynn!
