Dear garden lovers. I have some japanese irises which I planted in pots last year. I need some quick pointers regarding yellow tip and general care like do I cut foliage back? I live in a Mediterranean climate, so pretty hot 8/9 months a year. I have not gone through this forum yet. Thank you.

@Tsuboniwa - Such a gorgeous photo, unfortunately not a JI but probably Japanese roof iris/Iris Tectorum. Someone will come along to help you regarding care.

Please post the photos to our database. Thanks.

Now I'm wondering if it could be this.
Species Iris (Iris japonica 'Skirt Chaser')

I wouldn't cut back the foliage until it goes totally yellow to brown.

Welcome! to the iris forum, martin. i am afraid i don't grow the iris you have, but i do grow japanese irises. i think the kind that i grow are called 'hanshobu', but i am not sure? these are generally called japanese iris.

Thumb of 2018-10-07/shizen/e03936. i have a few, but they are fairly new to my garden and haven't bloomed yet, or were buried too deep in the foliage to get a proper photo shot.

i grow most of them in pots. that way i can control the water, along with mosquito dunks. Hilarious!
