Hi! I just bought 'Daylilies' by A.B. Stout. I'm looking for recommendations for a book that covers the whole Daylily growing cycle-growing fron seed to division. Basically a book for Beginners.

Please, everyone share your thoughts!
Many thanks,
Angela

Not a book per se, but have you joined the American Daylily (Hemerocallis) Society (membership $25 for a full year, $15 from now until the end of this year)? Members have access to 70 years worth of their journals online with all their "how-to" articles amongst other interesting stuff, that alone is worth the cost of membership IMHO.

Good, bad, or indifferent, AHS recently changed the name to American Daylily Society, or ADS.

They didn't actually change the name, they just decided to use their "doing business as" name, American Daylily Society, more for publicity purposes. They're still the AHS as well.

Sounds like a bad move to me! Most folks object to ads. Big Grin

On the other hand. Most none members know what daylily is as oppose to hemerocallis.
The average gardener is not verse on the scientific nomenclature.
Either way I personally am fine with it. MHO of course.

I think that was part of the reason for using American Daylily Society. It isn't quite so intimidating.

I suppose everything must change in order to be "relevant". New name, new logo, I hope it works out better than the website update.

I have not adjusted to the website update. Too much of the info is toward the bottom of the page.

I have found the new AHS website to just be extremely hard for me to navigate! But that said, if you can navigate the site, then there's is so much information available. I think it is without a doubt the most information about daylilies available at one site. I still haven't figured out how to access the robins.
Oh, does anyone have any beginner daylily books to recommend? I think that was the original question.
I was surprised when I looked through all my gardening books that I actually did not have a book that was dedicated specifically to daylilies. So I am not able to recommend one!

I find the easiest way to navigate the new site is just scroll down to the bottom of the home page where everything is listed out. The 70 years of Journals is on the Members Portal, which did not change. Larry, for the Robins I found this on the old site but I don't know where it is on the new one. It looks to be somewhat out of date but the addresses for joining the email Robin are right I think:

Larry, not sure if you are aware of it or not, but the robins are not actually on the ADS/AHS site. You receive an email every day (or even an email from each and every person who sends out an email to the listserve). I opted for just one email each day and it has all the emails sent to the robin in just one email to me. That way, it doesn't clutter up my personal emails too much.

Just send an email to one of the folks at the link below. I guess I am just on the general round robin, not on the 'doubles' or 'historical' robins.

I had to do a search in the new site to find this info (edited to add that I went to the dictionary, found the word "robin" and it took me to this page).
