Atomic Blue Petunia

This is a Multiflora Spreading/Trailing Petunia. I grew it several years ago in a tub. It is perennial, but here in Zone 5 it is grown as an annual because of the severe winters. It is well worth growing. A full photo will be shown later.

Perfectly named, beautiful banner Leon!

Thanks guys.I didn't realize that I would have so much "attention" in one day. Here is the photo I took the banner from. This was back in June of 2011.
It is one of the better 'blue' cultivars, however in sunlight there was some violet in the hue. I hope to grow it again next year.

Leon,

Beautiful banner and beautiful petunia. Where did you buy it at? Did you get it local or order it online?

I'm guessing your beautiful concrete container can't sit outside during winter, so it must be pretty heavy to move it back in the garage (or wherever you store it).

Thank you for posting the whole pic.

The banner is just beautiful. I am new to this petunia. Does is bloom throughout the day? Is it grown from seed successfully? Do you think it would grow in zone 11. What are the sun requirements?

Marilyn, Thanks. I bought it at an Amish nursery locally. The name and color caught my attention. That was back in 2011, and I had not seen any since. Next spring I will look again. I like the 'spreading, trailing wave types' which fill out large containers real well. And they do good directly in garden soil too. These pictured below are not Atomic Blue. But they were listed as 'generics' at a local nursery. They are from this year (2018) and did fairly well filling in some bare spots of the gardens. Hope this will help.

Beverly- when given sun & water they will surely grow there in zone 11. It does indeed bloom throughout the day, I do not believe it will grow from seed successfully since it is a hybrid cultivar. Please note this would be a perennial in your area. See Multiflora Spreading/Trailing Petunia (Petunia Sanguna® Atomic Blue)

Leon,

Thank you for the info. I'll have to look next year for Atomic Blue locally or online.
