I love that time when you've planted the seeds and every day you can find more and more poking their little green heads out of the potting soil. Every time you see a new spec of green in a new cup, you know another cross worked out for you. That's a great time in the hybridizing cycle.

I have a prediction for the children. I call them Golf Pants. Wish I were patient enough to really do it right.

A seedling from JAMES EDWARD FARRAR X CLOWN PANTS. It had magical pollen to set a pod (actually two) on WACKY WEDNESDAY.

I was lucky enough to get WACKY WEDNESDAY over the weekend through the Lily Auction - YEA!!! And I'm now wondering if anyone (Steve or Davi maybe?) has enough experience with it to let me know if it is a parent that passes on the striping in all or most of its seedlings, or only occasionally. This is probably too soon to be asking, since it was only registered in 2015, but I just have to ask... Does anyone know?

Edit: Also -- Steve, that cross I won from you that has the seedling JAMES EDWARD FARRAR x CLOWN PANTS as the pollen parent -- is that the same seedling that you used as the pollen parent in this cross?

Congrats Betty!

Excellent question....too soon for me to know. I have used WW for two years now, so hopefully in a year or so I should have some answers.

I know that CLOWN PANTS has been very successful in passing those stripes to it's kids, but I have no idea if this CP seedling will do the same. Yes, it was the same one you won on he LA. We should compare notes in a few years....lol.

I was also able to get UNDEFINABLE over the weekend -- Whew! Between those two my budget is pretty well blown now, but they were at the top of my list so I'm happy! I also got a plant of MASTER SERGEANT KENNETH LANE from Bill Waldrop last spring, so now I have three striped tets to play with -- and did anyone see the picture of Bill Waldrop's MASTER SERGEANT KENNETH LANE x UNDEFINABLE seedling that Paul Lewis recently posted in his blog? Those pictures really moved me to actively start working to get these two striped daylilies for this coming year. If anyone is interested in seeing the striped and speckled/spotted daylilies in his latest posting, here is the link:

I too love the "broken" patterns... I was super excited when my second year seedling (my avatar) showed that trait (off and on) this year... it also showed some doubling traits! I'll have to wait and see what it has in store for me next year! Lovey dubby

May have to rethink my budget...

I have a bunch of seeds from Speckled Trout (speckled) and Nowhere to Hide (veins) and a few from Plum Striped (stripes)... Am excited to get them started (hopefully this weekend!) and see what pops up in a few years!
