I'm trying to put a name to this shrub. It's common in this area but nobody seems to know it's name. It multiplies quickly with its prolific fluffy seeds. It reaches about 7 or 8 ft.

I think it is a shrub that grows in the south here. Baccharis halimifolia (Groundsel Tree, Sea Myrtle)

I agree it looks like Baccharis halimifolia. The shrubs are either male or female, the one in your photo is female.

I also agree, that lovely shrub looks like Sea Myrtle (Baccharis halimifolia)

Thanks everyone! That's what it is alright. My internet searches kept trying to tell me it was dessert broom and I knew that wasn't right. I'm a very long way from the mountains of the dessert southwest.
