Looks like we won't be having our Solstice celebration bonfire tomorrow night, 100% chance of rain Sad but at least we know its the shortest day followed by longer ones!

It does for me.

I had to take a quick look at the calendar when I saw this one...but yes, it's getting close enough and I'm looking forward to longer days. Right now the sun doesn't come up until close to 7 am and sets about 3:30 pm.

Yes, technically on the 21st but the next couple of weeks the day light hours will only vary in length by a seconds. So pretty much the darkest, shortest days of the year. Then we start to get lighter again, yippee!

We usually have dry winters. But we are having a wet winter here. 80% chance of rain starting around 3am, about 90-100% tomorrow, then a few days of dry, then next weekend more rain! I guess we'll have the fire in the fireplace (even though it won;t be cold enough for a fire). We like to take these holidays in December in May as an opportunity to burn up as much deadwood as we can from what falls on our property. But I guess its been so wet these past 2 years if a wildfire started in the woods it would probably just drown. They say we could get up to 4.5 inches of rain over the next 24 hours.

Well, the 100% chance of rain has been moved to Thursday the 20th, and a 50% chance on the Solstice. Cross fingers for good weather!
