A few months ago I bought some Cordylines from a grower in HI and the shipping cost was lower than if I had bought them right here in SC. I believe it was $12 and the plants came by Fed Ex air. It seems that because most products are flown into HI and there are so few exports, the planes were returning to the mainland empty. Some growers on the Big Island got together and made a deal with Fed Ex. I have not looked for orchids there but it is worth a try.
