I started following Sepp Holzer from Austria back in 2008, trying to learn how to do things with nature instead of against nature. I am still learning Blinking I finally got around to putting in my first “ hugel bed” in 2012

I put in logs of maple and red alder, with lots of limbs as well

I covered those with straw and as many leaves as I could gather

The news paper would have been a great idea. My bed was about 3 1/2 feet tall and 18 feet long. I hauled soil from our meadow and dumped over the bed.
