Philip,

Check the packaging. Any light you use for plants needs to have a K value of 6000 (the K value for sunlight is around 6000). Usually, the light bulbs with that high a K value also describe them as "grow light" or "plant light".

Seeds always start more quickly with a little heat but your light bulb may be enough.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and proclaiming...."WOW What a Ride!!" -Mark Frost
