Well, it's like this... the drones get killed off so I don't want to be one of those. The queen, while waited on hand & foot, still is more or less confined to the hive laying eggs all day which does not sound appealing to me. So, yes, buzzing around in the open air, visiting flowers & feeling freedom sounds better than the alternatives.
