As Heath noted you have a Phalaenopsis orchid there.
It looks like it's potted in a bark mix in a clear pot.. two good things in my opinion! The decorative pot will cause problems for you if it doesn't have any holes in it and the pot ends up sitting in water , which soon turns swampy. If you look at the top of our forum you'll see a few helpful threads will will mostly likely answer your questions. Check them out and let us know how you are doing!... maybe one of the other members has experience with bonsai.. or there might be a bonsai group here at NGA.
